Originally from the north of England, the breed can be traced back over 200 years. (Some say they can be traced back to small Celtic shorthorn ox at the time of the Roman invasion.) The first herd book was published in 1822 and was the first herd book in the world. The colour of these cattle can range from pure white to dark red and every combination in between. They have a quiet temperament, calve easily and have plenty of milk, making them very good mothers. We are passionate about our shorthorn cattle, which provide very tasty beef, sold in the butchery of our Farm Shop.
